My Favorite Thanksgiving Polishes Part One: The Neutrals

So, Turkey day is almost here, and although I have been thinking about what tasty things I will be bringing to my parents this year, I have also been pondering what festive color will adorn my nails. This is a two part post of my top 10 favorite Thanksgiving nail colors. The first 5, in this post, are the neutrals. Stay tuned for the next 5 in an  upcoming post!

First up we have essie’s “Eternal Optimist”. This is a pretty dusty rose color that is a great neutral option for the time of year. The pink-iness of this nude brings out the natural pinkish undertones in my skin, which is much more complementary at this time of year than beige-based nudes that can wash me out even more than I already am. This is also a great option if you have to work the day before or after the holiday, since it is still a professional looking color. I used 3 coats to achieve the opacity below.

Next is another essie polish called “Bordeaux”. As the name implies, it is a beautiful deep wine color, perfect for autumn. I am a sucker for red polishes, but this is a nice change from the typical bright reds I enjoy. It gives the nails a glamorous feel without any sparkle needed. This swatch was taken with just 2 coats.

Revlon’s “Pumpkin Spice” is next, and this color is from their new Parfumerie collection. This is a range of scented polishes and each color is named after the scent it gives off. “Pumpkin Spice” has a lovely cinnamon spice scent once the polish is dried. The color is a gorgeous deep brown packed with a reddish-gold micro shimmer. The color reminded me a lot of OPI’s “Warm and Fozzie” from the Muppets collection, but this is a more opaque color with finer glitter particles. The scent is not too strong on this, and it doesn’t last very long, which  I am okay with since the color is absolutely stunning. My camera did have some difficulty focusing on the shimmer, but you can see the reddish-gold  tint that it adds in sunlight. Only 2 coats needed for this beauty.

“Louise” by ZOYA is next, and this color is the perfect chocolate brown. It is creamy and rich, and is great for Thanksgiving time. This is the perfect color for a turkey inspired manicure, and I happen to have a tutorial for on here! There isn’t much more to say about this color except that I love it! “Louise” was fully opaque in just 2 coats.

Last but not least in this group is a sparkly gold. This is “Fall Mood” from Revlon’s Colorstay collection, which is one of my all time favorite polish lines, be it drugstore or high end. This is not your typical gold polish. It is a very unique color, in my opinion, and is super reflective. I’d describe it as a golden foil with orange undertones and silver micro-glitter. This looks great on it’s own, as an accent nail, or even sponged on top of another color. The formula is fantastic, and I could have used only 1 coat, but I chose to use 2 in the swatch below.

Thanksgiving 2

There you have my top 5 neutral polishes for Thanksgiving time. These are great all throughout fall really, but why not try them out for the upcoming holiday! Stay tuned for Part Two: The Colors.
