Christmas Countdown Day Seven: Snowmen

Hey everyone,

Today’s design is a bit more complex than yesterday’s, but still a lot of fun! Today I am going to teach  you how to make some snowmen faces. It may look intimidating, but once you get the hang of it, these guys are really a piece of cake to make.

Begin by painting half of your nail white. You want this to be opaque, so you may have to use 2 coats. Once this is dry, you want to make some messy black dots on each nail for the eyes. I made them lumpy because I wanted them to look like coal instead of perfect circles. You can use a dotting tool or a toothpick for this step.

Next, you want to add their carrot noses. To do this I used a toothpick dipped into orange polish and dragged it along until I had the desired shape. Then I added more black spots for their smiles.

Now it is time to add their hats. I chose a variety  of different colors for this part. I used a dotting tool to make triangular shaped hats at the  top of each snowman’s head. Then I added a different color pom-pom at the top of each as well as a border on the bottom of each hat. You could totally add stripe or polka dot detail to the hats as well, but I left them solid. Below  I show you the triangle shape both before and after I added the other details.

You can choose to stop there, throw on a top coat and call it a day (which I wish I had done), or you can add some detail to the snowmen’s eyes to make them seem more alive. I added a white dot and a smaller black dot to each eye to achieve this. I liked them better with plain coal eyes in the end, but my boyfriend liked them better with the pupils, so whichever you choose, someone is bound to think they are cute.

Now that wasn’t so bad was it? I told you once you got the hang of it, it would be no problem. Next time I use this design I will try adding different style hats or even bows. There are a lot of different ways to make this manicure your own. I hope you enjoyed and I will see you tomorrow!
