Hi everyone!

Today I bring you my top 13 favorite nail polishes of 2013. Not all of these colors were released this past year, but these are the colors that I wore the most in 2013. It was difficult to narrow it down to 13, but I managed to do so, and I think you will enjoy my selection. I have listed the polishes by brand alphabetically, so let’s get started!

China Glaze

“It’s a Trap-eze!” was released with CG’s Cirque du Soleil: World’s Away collection. It is a beautiful white jelly filled with glitters of all different colors and sizes. Can you say unique?!? I tried hunting for this baby for months, and had finally accepted the fact I wouldn’t be able to add it to my collection. One day I walked into Ulta and saw it sitting in the CG display, all alone, and snatched it up. I was thrilled and immediately came up with the cutest Gingerbread Men tutorial to share with you all. This color is just one of a kind and if you are lucky enough to find it, don’t let it slip out of your hands.

“Running in Circles” was actually released from the same collection at “it’s a Trap-eze”. This beautiful vibrant green foil, with a golden undertone, is one of my all-time favorite colors. I have used it a lot since I got it, and I always get compliments when I wear it.

“First Timer” is a very unique creamy cool green from Essie’s Resort 2013 collection. I haven’t really seen many colors like this, because lighter greens are usually more minty or yellow-toned, and this is more of a blue-toned green. I initially wasn’t going to purchase this, but once I saw swatches, I knew it was something different. I believe you can still find this color floating around in some drug stores, so check it out!

“Hip-anema” is a beautiful tomato red which was released in Essie’s Madison Ave-hue Spring 2013 collection. I love this color, and it has become my go to red. Not much more to say about this one!

“Royally Yours” is a beautiful creamy pale blue that was released in the Versailles Romance collection this past spring. It was in competition with Zoya’s “Blu” for a spot in this post, but I chose “Royally Yours” because it is a little brighter than “Blu”. “Blu” is a true pastel blue, but this L’Oréal polish is a little bit more fun. This color is great all year long, and looks amazing when you have a tan.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics

It’s no surprise that “Black Metal Dahlia” is in my 2013 favorites. Although I only got it about a month ago, I know it is going to be a color I wear over and over again. The formula is amazing, and the color pay-off is outstanding. This polish gets an A++ in my book. Here is a swatch of the color from my Santa tutorial.

First up for OPI we have “Alcatraz… Rocks!”, which was a part of their Fall 2013 San Francisco collection. Now, I had to hold myself back from buying the entire collection because I am obsessed with San Fran, and I hope to be moving there this coming summer. Anyways, I talked myself into only getting 1 color because most of the polishes I had dupes for already. I got “Alcatraz… Rocks!” and I was not disappointed. This is a liquid sand polish, which means it is a glitter with a matte finish. Although the base is a purple-y gray glitter, there are sparkles of every color throughout it. My camera could not do this color justice, but if you see it in stores, you will see what I mean.

“You’re Such a Budapest” is another one of my all-time favorites. This color was released in OPI’s Spring 2013 Euro Centrale collection. It is a beautiful cool lilac with a very subtle shimmer. You can’t really see the shimmer when you are wearing it though. I originally purchased the 4 pack of mini polishes from this collection, and I ended up loving this color so much, I had to go out and purchase the full sized bottle. To me this color screams “lady-like” and “elegance” without being too boring.OPI "You're Such a Budapest" SwatchRevlon

“Provoke” is from Revlon’s Brilliant Strength Nail Enamel range, and it is a lovely peachy-orange that is creamy and bright. I thought it was a unique shade, because a lot of other brands have similar colors that are more pink-toned than this one. For me, this is a staple for the warmer months.

Sally Hansen

I got this polish only about a week ago, but it had to go in my favorites! I used “Grape Shifter” in one of my New Year’s Eve nail art tutorials   , and I fell in love immediately. The formula is great on this glitter, and the complexity of the glitter is amazing. It is a jelly base filled with blue micro-shimmer, medium-sized violet glitter, and large hexagonal blue holographic glitter. This color is really outrageous and  if you see it in your drugstore, grab it before it is gone! You can see if here on my ring finger with a base of Sally Hansen’s “Black and Blue”.

Last, but certainly not least, we have 3 Zoya polishes. Zoya hit it out of the park this year, in my opinion. I absolutely loved every single one of their collections this year! In particular, their Pixie Dusts and their Zenith Winter Collection really got me good. “Payton” and “Dream” were 2 of the polishes in the Zenith Winter 2013 collection, and I had to have them. I talk about them more in my Christmas Present tutorial, but what you need to know is glitter, shine, more glitter, and more shine. These two colors make your nails look like they are made of glass, and the sparkle is unreal. “Dream” is the glowing blue below, while “Payton” is the beautiful berry color.

The thirteenth polish that I chose for my favorites is one of Zoya’s Pixie dusts. “Carter” is a stunning purple and fuchsia matte glitter, that is so sparkly, you didn’t think it was possible. This is the polish that made me open up to matte glitters. I originally was against the whole trend, and thought I would only enjoy them if I used a top coat. However, once I saw this baby, my eyes were opened. This is a great color, and the formula is awesome. You don’t have to strain to remove it but yet, it takes a lot of effort for it to chip. I have swatched it for you below both without and with a topcoat.
