Today I bring you a simple, yet iconic, nail art tutorial for Valentine’s Day. Having gone to school in Philadelphia, I had to include the famous Love Park “Love” sculpture in one of my tutorials somehow. This tutorial is actually really easy and quick compared to my Chocolate Covered Strawberries design.
I began by painting my nails alternating colors. I went with red and white for my colors, but obviously you could use whatever you’d like. I think this design would look awesome in alternating neon colors, similar to an Andy Warhol type design. The next step is to use a toothpick dipped into the color or you choice to outline the “LOVE” sign. I did a rough draft on each nail, and then went over it again to make it look better. I used a dotting tool for the “O” to create a perfect circle.
Next, I used a small dotting tool dipped into white polish, and I dragged it through the center of the “O” diagonally to create the tilted “O” look of the sculpture. As you can see below, I kept this design really simple. If you wanted to, you could go into more detail on the letters to make it look more like the font used for the sculpture, but I feel like the simple version is still as recognizable.
The last step, is to decorate the accent nails. I went the easy way out and opted for a fun top coat. I used “Whirled Away” from China Glaze’s Cirque du Soleil collection, but you can use whatever you’d like.
There you have it! Like I said, super easy, and if you only put the “Love”on one finger, it’s even quicker. I hope you guys like this one. It made me feel quite nostalgic! I will be going back to Philly in May for my graduation, and I need to have my picture taken with Tom in front of the sign. We never took one even though we were there for 2 years together! By the way, make sure you are following me along on Instagram (@polishedandpaleo) because I am participating in a February nail art challenge, where I will be posting new designs every couple of days. I probably won’t post them on here until the end of the month, so be sure to follow me there. You can click here or the link on the main menu to follow me.
